Life as a Cambridge Mature Student, Panel Discussion, 12.30-2pm, Wednesday, 19 November, Student Support Centre, New Museum Site, Bene't St, Cambridge, CB2 3PT. As stated, this is an important event for mature students that we hope as many as possible can attend. Come and share your experiences as a mature student with the University. It's an audience-with-speakers event (with lots of audience participation for those that want to air their views). There is an online option (join via a link posted to the Open Forum). Evensong/Formal 6.30pm, Thursday, 20 November, Christ's College Chapel, St Andrew's Street, Cambridge CB2 3BU. The Evensongs group is back again, this time at Christ's with 17th Century music by Gibbons. And Alan is organizing a Formal afterwards (I don't think it's full yet!). Thanks Alan!
History Club, Thursday, 20 November, Prince Regent, 91 Regent St, Cambridge CB2 1AW. A fitting venue for the next History Club meeting, in which you can hear all about their planned trip to Huntingdon. All are welcome, though Hugh Laurie (Blackadder variety) impersonations are banned! Thanks HC team! Yes, it clashes with the Christ's event but they are close enough to mingle at around 9pm.
College Lunch, 1pm, Friday, 21 November, Peterhouse College, Trumpington Street, Cambridge, CB2 1RD. Come, and enjoy lunch in the University's oldest dining hall (1280), where Babbage, Kelvin, Whittle and many others supped, often in candlelight and with the ubiquitous aroma of woodsmoke. Meet in the yard by Plodge. There's a poll on the Open Forum so we can give them apprx numbers. Thanks Peter (Peterhouse head of catering)!
MSS Bridgemas Formal, from 7.30pm, Wednesday 26 November, Churchill College, Storey's Way, Cambridge, CB3 0DS. This is THE BIG ONE! It involves a prosecco reception, three-course Xmas dinner, Bridgemas frivolities and we're planning something for afterwards. Buy tickets HERE. The creche is now full. Book Club, 6pm, Thursday, 4 December, Clarendon Arms, 35-26 Clarendon Street, Cambridge, CB1 1JX. The book this month is Katabasis by RF Kuang (of Yellowface fame). It's set in Cambridge (not that we're self-obsessed or anything : ). Thanks Jen!
